1894, regarding the Proposed Amendments to the 37 C.F,R. Parts 1 and
3, and the request for plJblic comment.

    As a Patent P~ttorney in the blotechnolo9y tield, I ~rould like
to suggest that the proposed new 37 C.F.R. 1 .53Xb} , spec~ring that
the requirements of i1.821 (eJ are not applicable to provisional
applications, be substantially arnended. Specifically, 87is should be
amended to specify that na requirements of 1.821-1.823 and 1.825
{I'ttuc/eotSde and/orAmino Acld Sequence Disc/o- SUfW RulesJ need be
met by a pxvional applBcafon. The mere alimination of the requirement
to file tim computer-readable form { 1.821 (eJ) is a meanin91ess
lessening of the burden on applicants to cornpiy with these rules,
particubrly since compliance with the rest of the# complex rules
