MathML contains invalid line end characters in Red Book (Patent Grants and Patent Applications)

November 18, 2005 - Working with Wolfram Research, it has been determined that the bulk of the remaining entity mapping problems (including the line end characters and remaining private use characters) are related to the Mathml to Mathml-2 ICE migration requirements. To address this problem, Mathematica 5.2 will be utilized to re-export Mathml-2 data from the Mathematica notebook file within Red Book ICE. This will allow testing and validation with minimal impact on existing production systems and addresses legacy/in-process CWU processing. Anticipated production implementation is scheduled for late November 2005. Please refer to FAQ 75, the Red Book ICE Status Report dated July 1, 2005, and the Red Book ICE Status Report dated July 22, 2005.

How will sequence listings appear beginning January 2006?

November 18, 2005 - January 2006 DTD Changes.

The following is the appearance of Sequence Listings effective January 2006 in the Patent Grant Data/XML v4.1 (Red Book) ICE weekly file and the Patent Application Data/XML v4.1 (Red Book) ICE weekly file.

A sequence listing will always contain a <us-sequence-list-doc> element that contains a <sequence-list> with a "file" attribute.

The "file" attribute in a non-mega sequence listing (less than 300 pages) will contain only the filename (i.e. US06123456-20060103-SEQ.XML).

The "file" attribute in a mega sequence listing (300 or more pages) will contain the path and filename (i.e. //20060103-SUPP/ US06123456-20060103 -SUPP.ZIP | US06123456-20060103-SUPP.SEQ).

Note: The supplemental file containing the mega sequence listing will be present with a full document disseminated on DLT cartridge. The supplemental file containing a non-mega or a mega sequence listing will not be present with a text only document.

A Patent XML document with a mega sequence listing will also contain a
element that will contain an
element as defined below. The
element is nested in a paragraph element
within the <us-sequence-list-doc> element.

Note: The URL address within the
element contains the ampersand "&" character. A CDATA section has been included to avoid parsing errors normally associated with a stand-alone ampersand. The processing instructions (PSIPSURL) have also been included to assist in detecting the URL.

The patent application contains a lengthy “Sequence Listing” section. A copy of the “Sequence Listing” is available in electronic form from the USPTO web site ( <?PSIPSURL description="PSIPS url" end="lead"?> http://seqdata.uspto.gov/ pageRequest=docDetail&DocID=20030237110A9 <?PSIPSURL description="PSIPS url" end="tail"?> ). An electronic copy of the “Sequence Listing” will also be available from the USPTO upon request and payment of the fee set forth in 37 CFR 1.19(b)(3).
