Element Title: Markush Group
Element Description: This is a group elelment containing a form of alternative expression used to claim a group of items selected from the group consisting of certain members as established in Ex parte Markush. 1925 C.D. 126 (Comm'r Pat. 1925). The items in the group ordinarily must belong to a recognized physical or chemical class or to an art-recognized class. See MPEP 2173.05(h).
A markush group is only allowed within claim text and it is a group element consisting of one or more markush items.
