Patents BIB Subscriber Notice
December 2004 Issue
We are pleased to provide you with the first two-disc set of Patents BIB.
Patents BIB:Grants contains granted patents and Patents BIB:Apps contains
patent application publications. Instructions on installing the discs are
given below.
If you have two DVD-ROM drives:
1) Insert Patents BIB:Apps in the top drive* and install using setup.exe
accepting all defaults
2) Insert Patents BIB:Grants in the lower drive* and install using setup.exe
accepting all defaults
3) The Cassis2 interface should display one Patents BIB icon under the Main
bar in the left sidebar
*The discs must always be inserted in the same drives in order for the discs
to work properly.
If you wish to install the data to your hard drive:
1) Copy the disc to two directories in your hard drive. We suggest that you
use Apps and Grants. You will need approximately 14 GB of free space for this
option
2) Install Patents BIB:Apps using setup.exe accepting all defaults
3) Install Patents BIB:Grants using setup.exe accepting all defaults
4) The Cassis2 interface should display one Patents BIB icon under the Main
bar in the left sidebar.
If you have one DVD-ROM drive:
1) Insert Patents BIB:Apps in the drive and install using setup.exe accepting
all defaults
2) Remove Patents BIB:Apps and insert Patents BIB:Grants in the drive
3) Install using setuptwo.exe accepting all defaults
4) The Cassis2 interface should display a Patents BIB bar with two Patents
BIB icons in the left sidebar
You will be able to search the two discs simultaneously if you have two DVD-ROM
drives or you installed the data to your hard drive. You must search the two
discs separately if you have one DVD-ROM drive. In order to save reentering
the same search on both discs, you can save the first search using the Search
History feature and then rerun the search on the second disc.
Please note that if you subscribe to multiple products you will encounter
incorrect search results if you install earlier (pre-2005) products after
installing newer versions of a Cassis product. For example, if you have both
Patents BIB and Patents ASSIST products installed on your computer, reinstalling
an older version of Patents ASSIST would overwrite the new user interface
with an older version and cause Patents BIB to not function properly. To correct
the problem, you would need to reinstall the newer Patents BIB product.
Note: It was discovered that the test disc set sent out in December
was incorrectly labeled December 2004. To alleviate confusion, this new set
has been marked with a black “R” for revised on the face of the
disc. To be completely safe, you may want to discard the test disc set.
If the discs do not function in the expected manner or you have questions
or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone or e-mail.
