Patents BIB Subscriber Notice

October 2004 Issue

We are pleased to provide you with a test copy of the upcoming two-disc set of Patents BIB. Instructions on installing the discs are given below. Patents BIB will be published on two discs with the December 2004 issue.

If you have two DVD-ROM drives:

1) Insert Patents BIB:Apps in the top drive* and install using setup.exe accepting all defaults
2) Insert Patents BIB:Grants in the lower drive* and install using setup.exe accepting all defaults
3) The Cassis2 interface should display one Patents BIB icon under the Main in the left sidebar
*The discs must always be inserted in the same drives in order for the discs to work properly

If you wish to install the data to your hard drive:

1) Copy the disc to two directories in your hard drive your hard drive. We suggest that you use Apps and Grants. You will need approximately 14 GB of free space for this option
2) Install Patents BIB:Apps using setup.exe accepting all defaults
3) Install Patents BIB:Grants using setup.exe accepting all defaults
4) The Cassis2 interface should display one Patents BIB icon under the Main in the left sidebar.

If you have one DVD-ROM drive:

1) Insert Patents BIB:Apps in the drive and install using setup.exe accepting all defaults
2) Remove Patents BIB:Apps and insert Patents BIB:Grants in the drive
3) Install using setuptwo.exe accepting all defaults
4) The Cassis2 interface should display a Patents BIB bar with two Patents BIB icons in the left sidebar

You will be able to search the two discs simultaneously if you have two DVD-ROM drives or you installed the data to your hard drive. You must search the two discs separately if you have one DVD-ROM drive. In order to save reentering the same search on both discs, you can save the first search using the Search History feature and then rerun the search on the second disc.
