Patents BIB Subscriber Notice

2001 August Issue

We are pleased to announce the addition of new search fields specific to patent application publications to this issue of Patents BIB. These fields include:

  • Correspondence Address - The name and full address of the party to whom application correspondence is returned.
  • Document Type - This field allows you to search for a specific type of patent document, for example, design, plant, reissue, SIR, utility, or application.
  • Kind Code - A two-digit international standard code designating the document as an application or patent grant, a plant or utility document, and initial or secondary publication. Currently this field only contains A1 and P1 designations.
  • Publication Date -The date that the patent application was published.
  • Publication Number - Includes the year of publication and the seven-digit numerically sequenced number in the following format: 20010000166.
  • USAApp Volume ID - The volume ID for the USAApp disc containing the facsimile image of the patent application publication.

Although this disc technically only includes data through the end of August, you may notice that there are a small number of patents for each week in September and two weeks in October. All of these patents have been given the current classification of 1/1 since classification data was not available at the time we received them.

We are also including a revised edition of the Patents BIB User's Guide with this shipment. This User's Guide now includes the User's Guide for the Patents CLASS product. Changes to the user interface and the newly added search fields are also reflected in this edition.

Once again, we apologize for the delays encountered in the publication of this disc. Thank you for your patience.
