PTO AND BIO TO HOLD TWO-DAY BIOTECH SEMINAR
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) Technology Center 1600/2900 and Biotechnology Industry Association (BIO) are sponsoring two days of presentations, August 24 and 25, 1999, on biotechnology, pharmaceutical, organic chemistry and design patenting. Over 200 patent practitioners interested in biotechnology and design patenting are expected to attend.
The first day of events will include discussions of biotechnology policy issues by high-ranking PTO officials, followed by a town hall meeting, which will allow attendees to ask questions on the presentations. Featured speakers will include Q. Todd Dickinson, Acting Commissioner of Patents and Trademarks as luncheon speaker; Nicholas Godici, Acting Assistant Commissioner for Patents; Stephen Kunin, Deputy Assistant Commissioner for Patent Policy and Projects; Edward Kazenske, Deputy Assistant Commissioner for Patents; Frederick Schmidt, Administrator for Search and Information Resources Administration (SIRA); and Mary Lee, Administrator for Quality Programs.
An open house will offer the chance to meet and talk with the management and examining staff of Technology Center 1600/2900 and SIRA and tour the Technology Center's facilities. Panel discussions with Q & A, moderated by John Doll and John Kittle, Technology Center directors, on the second day will feature patent prosecution in the areas of DNA, transgenic animals, immunology, organic chemistry, and design and automation.
The cost of this inside look into the fascinating and fast-growing world of patenting, including a luncheon on Tuesday, and open house is $70.00. To reserve your spot, call (703) 308-1234.
