WHAT IS YOUR COMPLAINT?
Name of mass media invention promoter advertised in: I think it was T.V. or Radio
Invention promotion service offered to be performed: To get us a patent and for XXX to negotiate with manufactures for 10% of sales and to get product made.
Explanation of complaint between customer and invention promoter: We feel like we were misled by XXX and his Co. Arizona Patent Services, Inc. We paid Arizona Patent Services 13,200 dollars for our idea to get patent. On our initial meeting with XXX, he discussed how expensive patents are and that out of one hundred ideas he listens to that only one he will like and thinks has a chance, of course he liked our idea! When he was coming up with a price on how much this will cost us, he started thinking out loud on how common the materials were and how inexpensive they would be, so we at least thought we would get some prototypes made. That never happened. We then told XXX we had to think about it and we didn't even know if we could get that kind of money. So he gives us a couple of references to call and the BBB number. So we called the two references and the BBB and everything checked out fine. So we then met again to discuss this idea further. I flat out asked XXX if he thinks this is a good idea and if it has a chance to be successful. He tells my wife and I that if we do not patent this idea that he likes very much that he has the money and the manufactures to get the done right away.
Of course that put a lot of pressure on us to do this, so we agreed to do this. He then told us this is going to take some time and that months may go by before we hear from him. So as time went by I decided to call back those references and pick their brain about their experiences. As I was talking to them, I realized they were saying the same things over and over again and praising XXX like he was God himself. Then one of the references said that XXX pays him for every call he takes about Arizona Patent Services. Wow I was just floored over the statement and began thinking of how wrong this is in so many ways. Of course I called XXX right away for an explanation and of course he always had an answer.
So for our $13,200.00 we received a patent pending status, a drawing of our idea, a report about our idea and a list of so called manufactures like Dicks Sporting Goods which I didn't think manufactures any products! We also had to mail out our own packets to these so called manufactures and paid another one hundred sixty dollars for postage.
No replies, just some return to sender.
So we feel that XXX was just an individual trying to be a great salesman on misleading us on getting our idea patent and put out on store shelves.
