Bridgestone Americas Holding Inc (BSAH)
As a participant in this year’s Trademark Expo, Bridgestone Americas will focus on the history behind its multiple Bridgestone and Firestone marks. In addition, the exhibit will feature sample products of some of their brand marks, highlighting both an Indy car they sponsor and a display comparing and contrasting their historic vintage tires with their modern tires. The presentation will also feature information on Bridgestone Americas licensing agreements with multiple partners as well as explanatory material on the different product features protected by their registered trademarks and patents.Top of Page
Burberry
Burberry, an internationally recognized luxury brand, was established in 1856. Their informative booth will feature examples of authentic Burberry handbags, sunglasses, watches, umbrellas, and scarves and the corresponding counterfeit items. Burberry owns an unusual yet very important trademark for their plaid design. Trademarks rights along with enforcement issues will be discussed and highlighted at the booth by a Burberry representative.Top of Page
Callaway Golf Company
Callaway Golf will incorporate as part of their exhibit, an interactive putting green display for the Trademark Expo public to interact with and try out some of their products. At the same time, Callaway will educate the public on the history of its company and trademarks, its anti-counterfeiting efforts, as well as on how their intellectual property portfolio includes both trademarks and patents that protect several features and components of their golf clubs and other products.Top of Page
Caterpillar Inc.
Caterpillar’s booth will focus on the evolution of their brand, including a historical look at the change in their logos, expansion of product and services offered and their branding strategy. Additionally, Expo attendants will be educated on the integral role trademark law plays in allowing Caterpillar to develop and maintain their brand and brand promise. They will be providing visual samples of counterfeit products and will discuss the challenges they face in light of such counterfeiting. Caterpillar’s display will also include 1 to 3 pieces of their construction equipment located outside of the atrium for public viewing.Top of Page
CMG
CMG represents over 200 celebrities or well known trademarks, deceased and alive, in the sports, entertainment and music fields including Marilyn Monroe, Babe Ruth, and James Dean. CMG’s booth will focus on the development of comprehensive global trademark strategies, the importance of securing trademark registrations, strategic branding, licensing, policing trademarks on a world-wide basis, cyber squatters, the right of publicity, and intellectual property laws and trends.Top of Page
International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition
One example of a non-profit organization devoted to protecting intellectual property and deterring counterfeiting and piracy is the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition. Membership in the Coalition extends to multiple industries, including the automotive, apparel, pharmaceuticals, and software industries. Their presentation will feature side by side samples of counterfeit merchandise as these compare to the actual authorized products. The exhibit will also provide information on the risks purchasing counterfeit merchandise pose to our economy, to global trade and to our global health and safety. The overriding theme of the Coalition and of their exhibit is to let the public know that counterfeiting is illegal and purchasing counterfeit merchandise supports illegal activity.Top of Page
International Trademark Association
The International Trademark Association (INTA) will emphasize its role in assisting in protecting trademarks in the global economy and will provide general information and materials concerning INTA. The exhibit will include a looping power presentation covering INTA as an association, the benefits of INTA membership (including the TM Checklist, among others), Internet enforcement issues, and actions INTA has taken concerning emerging Internet issues.Top of Page
Microsoft Corporation
Microsoft Corporation, the owner of numerous federal registrations, will showcase their motion marks and sound marks. Microsoft will emphasize how the non-traditional trademarks, such as marks for product packaging or trade dress, that have been approved by the USPTO for federal registration have helped them to combat piracy by helping U.S. Customs identify counterfeit/pirated products. The display will also include some pirated goods. Microsoft will provide a computer presentation of their “look for” ad campaigns for their non-traditional registered trademarks. The company’s butterfly costume character may flutter about as well.Top of Page
NASCAR
The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, Inc. (NASCAR) will participate in this year’s Trademark Expo with a diverse exhibit celebrating NASCAR’s 60 years. Their exhibit will focus on the evolution of the NASCAR brands over the years and the expansion of their family of products, and will also feature information about their anti-counterfeiting efforts in ensuring the success of their ever-expanding product lines.Top of Page
Owens Corning
Owens Corning, the first trademark owner to register color, will present the history of the color pink trademarks. The bold and eye-catching mural display will feature “pink” marks and “pink” product samples. They may hand out pink balloons.Top of Page
Starmaker Products
Starmaker Products will display their products, their federal registrations, and autographed celebrity photographs. This start-up cosmetic company was originally exclusive to the entertainment industry, the skin care line for Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, and many other shows. After branding its products with federally registered trademarks, its products are now available nationally in CVS and, starting in February 2008, in Rite Aid stores. Anson Williams, “Potsie” from Happy Days, and JoAnna Connell, a makeup artist for well-known celebrities and Hollywood beauty product developer, will emphasize the importance of federal registrations for their business.Top of Page
The Travelers Companies, Inc.
The Travelers Companies, Inc. will provide an educational booth regarding the history and evolution of their known red umbrella mark and their recent advertising campaigns to bring back the distinctive red umbrella. They may hand out red umbrellas as well. A special feature of this booth is an entertaining “interactive wall” display which consists of miniature red umbrellas that form into one large umbrella and appear to wrap around individuals that pass in front of the screen returning to the umbrella position when no one is in front of the screen.Top of Page
UPS
UPS will be focusing on the evolution of their company’s logo and showcasing their “brown” color mark. Their interactive booth will feature high impact graphics and games for kids. UPS will also be providing a UPS Truck and Driver stationed outside of the atrium for kids to climb on and ask questions.Top of Page
YKK
YKK Corporation of America makes anything from zippers, metal snaps and buttons to hook and loop systems, plastic buckles and notions. YKK’s exciting booth will feature information about the strength of their trademark, in addition to examples of counterfeit zippers. They will discuss how they have worked with customs in the past 5 years to issue 521 seizure notices and as a result approximately 7 million pieces of garments have been seized by US Customs.Top of Page
