I am writing to comment on proposed legislation to lower the graphical standards of the U.S. patent office. As a patent illustrator for nearly 20 years, I know how important the quality of drawings can be in the understandability of the invention. I am often in the position of educating the attorneys and clients on the importance of accuracy and consistency in drawings.

I intend to join the American Patent Illustration Association and support their suggested reforms.
