This upgrade enhances compatibility with Windows XP environments. New Users: New users must obtain a Customer Number, and codes to create the PKI digital certificate, before using USPTO-Direct. Please see registration_pair.html for more information. To install from the website download: Launch the downloaded PAIR.EXE file, and follow the instructions displayed on the screen. To install from a CD: Launch the PAIR.EXE file from the USPTO_Direct folder, and follow the instructions displayed on the screen. Current Users: Existing Private PAIR users are not required to upgrade to SP2 but may wish to do so if they utilize the Windows XP operating system. Recommended: Prior to installation of any USPTO-Direct upgrade, copy your PKI digital certificate files from the C:\Program Files\USPTO directory to a portable medium (i.e., diskette or CD) or alternate location (i.e., network drive or another computer). To install from the website download: Launch the downloaded PAIR.EXE file, and follow the instructions displayed on the screen. To install from a CD: Launch the PAIR.EXE file from the USPTO_Direct folder, and follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
